Before moving to Woodlands Farm and establishing the Guest Accommodation business with my husband Paul, I used to work as a Senior Course Tutor at Bettys Cookery School in Harrogate, part of the Bettys & Taylors Group, famous for their Café Tearooms in Yorkshire. I developed and delivered Cookery courses to adults and children, ranging from knife skills to chocolate making. I worked there for 9 years and enjoyed teaching people from the complete novice to more advanced cooks.
Previously, I lived in London and worked as a freelance chef after completing the Diploma at the prestigious Leiths School of Food and Wine based in the Capital. It was during this time, I learnt a host of different culinary experiences and skills, walking into different kitchen environments as a freelance. After several years in London, I missed Yorkshire, and being a Country girl at heart (born in Harrogate and brought up in a small village outside York), I was ready to move back and luckily found a new culinary adventure at Bettys.
After nine fabulous years it was time for a new challenge. Paul and I moved to Woodlands Farm, a family home and set to work on opening our Guest Accommodation business on edge of the North York Moors National Park in 2014. Five years on, we are proud to welcome guests from around the World staying with us to explore Yorkshire. We successful applied for a Tourism Grant with the North York Moors National Park Authority and this has given us the opportunity to make some improvements to the kitchen at Woodlands Farm so I can share my passion for using the best local produce Yorkshire has to offer.
