Cookery Experiences

Introduction

  • We offer two types of practical Cookery Experiences – Express (2hr 30mins) and Half Day (4 hours).
  • My Kitchen is located in the main listed farmhouse at Woodlands Farm.
  • Refreshments are served on arrival and will be served throughout your experience – this includes Tea, coffee, herbal teas and fruit juice/cordials and a selection of biscuits.
  • Amy will demonstrate every element of the dish in stages before you recreate each stage at your work area.
  • Most of the Cookery Experiences include the opportunity to enjoy your creations at the end of the session.
  • All the use of equipment, ingredients, recipes and refreshments are included in the price.
  • A cookery apron is provided for you to borrow during your time in the kitchen. New aprons are available to purchase separately if you would like your own apron as a momento/keepsake of your Cookery Experience with us.
  • Packaging will be provided but we encourage guests to bring their own packaging such as cake tins and plastic containers to receive a discount.
  • Maximum of 4 guests per session. Minimum age requirement for attendees is 17 years (unless specified i.e. Family and Parent & Child Cookery Experiences – please see minimum age requirements).

Cookery Experience Themes (2.5hrs)

Sweet Scones and Afternoon Tea

10.00am-12.30pm
£55per person

Learn the techniques of how to successfully make the traditional English scone as Amy shares her secrets for success and the history behind the famous English Afternoon Tea. During this experience guests can chose whether to make a plain and/or fruit scones. Amy will also demonstrate how to make and assemble a traditional English Afternoon Tea for you to enjoy with your scones fresh out of the oven, so you can sit and relax as we serve a glass of fizz and a selection of teas, coffee and soft drinks. There will be plenty of your freshly baked scones left to take home and share with family and friends.

Victoria Sponge Cake and Fizz

10.00am-12.30pm

A classic British cake and probably the best introduction to learning the principles of baking as Amy shares her tips for success, showing both traditional and different finishes and how you can adapt the recipe to make different flavoured sponge cakes in the future. During this session Guests will bake their own sponge, make their own fillings and decorate their own cake. Once completed guests can sit down and enjoy a slice or two as we serve Afternoon Tea with sandwiches and a glass of fizz and a selection of teas, coffee and soft drinks.

Mince Pies and Mulled Wine

Get into the festive spirit and learn how to make sweet pastry, the technique for rolling out and cutting pastry successfully and making mince pies with a selection of toppings to impress your family and friends this Christmas. Amy will also demonstrate how to make a delicious mulled wine for you to enjoy. At the end of the session Guests can relax and enjoy a mince pie or two as we serve a Christmas themed Afternoon Tea with Sandwiches and a choice of a glass of fizz or mulled wine, and a selection of teas, coffee and soft drinks.

Quick Creative Christmas Canapés

Get yourself organised for the party season as you learn how to make effortless and festive Christmas Canapés to entertain your guests at Christmas including mini Yorkshire puddings! You will make your own canapés and learn tips on preparing in advance, different flavour combinations and styles of presentation. A final demonstration will show Guests the finishing touches needed to wow your friends and family when entertaining during the festive season.

Half Day Cookery Experiences – (4hrs)

If you would like to spend more time in the kitchen and master more dishes, then our half-day cookery courses are a perfect way to spend your time with us in My Kitchen.

Yorkshire Baking

10.00am-2pm
£100 per person

Learn to make the classic Teatime treat, the Yorkshire Tea Loaf made with Yorkshire Tea and plump dried fruit. You will also learn to make Yorkshire Parkin, a sticky oat ginger cake steeped in history and perfect for any cold autumn evening.

    More Creative Christmas Canapés

    Get yourself organised for the party season as you learn how to make a selection of effortless and festive Christmas Canapés to entertain your guests at Christmas, including mini Yorkshire puddings! You will make your own canapés and learn tips on preparing in advance, different flavour combinations and styles of presentation. A final demonstration will show Guests the finishing touches needed to wow your friends and family when entertaining during the festive season.

    Christmas Capers!

    A fun Christmas baking class to get you into the festive spirit! During this class you’ll make your own Sweet Pastry and make mince pies with a difference, with a selection of toppings to wow your guests at Christmas. You will also make your own tree hanging biscuits and show your creative flair as you decorate them and brush up your piping skills using coloured icing. We will also demonstrate how to make mulled wine and a non-alcoholic alternative to give you ideas for when you’re entertaining during the festive season.

    Seasonal Soup and Savoury Scones

    10am-2pm
    £85 per person

    Make your own classic winter warmer as you brush up your knife skills as you prepare vegetables and garnishes for this seasonal hearty soup class. Learn to make a savoury scone with a choice of Yorkshire cheeses and ingredients to choose from. Sit down and enjoy your hard work with a complimentary glass of wine or a Yorkshire craft beer from our in-house drinks list.
